Total Solar Eclipse of 2016 Occurs Today:

 What to Expect

In most places of India, the partial phase of the eclipse will begin before sunrise – it means partially eclipsed sunrise will take place.
“Though only people along the narrow path of totality will see the total eclipse, millions more will see some degree of a partial solar eclipse in Asia and the Pacific, including Hawaii, Guam and parts of Alaska”, NASA said in a statement.
Considering the Earth as a whole, the partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 4.49 IST.
The total solar eclipse will take place between Tuesday, March 8 and Wednesday March 9. However, the greatest phase of the partial eclipse will not be seen from many places in India.
Pregnant women: Some believe women can be harmed by the solar eclipse, and as such should stay indoors during the event.
Another map showing where the solar eclipse is visible.
Last year, Britain enjoyed its biggest eclipse in a decade – with parts of Scotland seeing 94% of the sun’s rays blocked.
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.
Rarely can Hong Kong people look up to the skies and be treated with an awe-inspiring sight rather than an eyeful of air-con water or the underbelly of a chemtrail-emitting jumbo jet. The eclipse will start at 11:19 p.m. (local time) on March 8th, 2016, and it will reach full totality at 1:19 a.m. (or 5:59 p.m.in Los Angeles) on the 9th.
In future, only partial or annular eclipses will be visible. The total phase will end at 0908 hrs. However, the partial eclipse would continue for an additional hour.
